GEORGE RICHEY

George Richey was a successful songwriter, musician, and record producer. In 1969, he became the head of Capitol Records Nashville where he produced legendary names such as Merle Haggard, Tex Ritter, Roy Rogers, Sonny James, and Freddie Hart. In 1970, George produced "Easy Loving" with Freddie Hart. This song was named Song Of The Year by the Country Music Association in both 1970 and 1971. George Richey was named Producer Of The Year twice by the Academy of Country Music. He earned both Gold and Platinum records with artists such as Elton John, Aaron Neville, Tammy Wynette, Lorrie Morgan, and Freddie Hart. George's award-winning songwriting allowed him to establish his own publishing company, Brougham Hall Music, Inc. Apart from producing and songwriting, George was in high demand as a record session keyboardist and was the musical director at Hee Haw (1970-1977).
